Komachi-dori is where the tour actually starts to breathe. This narrow old-town street has been Kamakura's commercial heart for generations — a tangle of small shops, century-old sweet stalls, and the smell of fresh senbei grilling as you pass. It's easy to walk through fast, but the street rewards a slower pace: the right stall for matcha soft-serve, the shop that's been making the same rice crackers for decades, the side alleys most visitors never turn down.

Running since 1902, this much-loved local railway winds through the streets of Kamakura and along the coast, offering a glimpse of everyday life in this historic city. As we arrive in Hase, we'll continue on foot to some of Kamakura's most iconic sights.

After the streets, the shrine, and the coastal ride, this is where the walk lands. Over 11 meters of bronze, sitting outdoors in the open air since the 13th century — the Great Buddha of Kotoku-in has watched Kamakura change for more than 700 years while staying exactly as it is. No rush here — just take it in.
